In a growing number of St. Louis divorce cases, mediation is becoming a popular process for sorting out the details of the divorce. These details almost entirely revolve around one of three general topics: assets, finances, or children. To guide the communications, the parties employ the services of a mediator. The mediator acts as a neutral third party whose only goal is to keep the couple focused on a civil resolution to their case.
As your family law attorney, we act as your advisor through mediation. In that role, we help our client understand what could happen if the case were resolved in court. We also make sure that all of the bases have been covered in the mediation process, as there are some issues that even experienced mediators sometimes miss. Following the mediation, we will review the agreement with you and advise you on additional measures you should take to further your protection. If the mediator used was not an attorney, we also review the agreement for legal compliance, to make sure it is enforceable by law.
For many couples, mediation provides a very effective means to a divorce settlement that everyone can live with. If you and your spouse have decided to handle your divorce through mediation, call The Carson Law Firm for qualified representation throughout the process. |
