First Annual Book Drive is a Great Success! Nearly 2000 Books Donated to Our Little Haven.
"Just look at all of these books! It's amazing!" said Leigh Joy Carson, the Clayton family law attorney who organized the event. "The community really turned out in full force to support Our Little Haven. I'm so pleased with the results." The original goal of collecting 100 books was far surpassed by the nearly 2000 that were donated during the month-long drive. Carson rallied support from friends and colleagues in the legal community, and enlisted the help of Academy of the Visitation students Carolyn and Lauren Copeland. The two girls raised awareness of the mission of Our Little Haven among the Visitation family, who also donated generously to the book drive. "At Viz, we are committed to
giving back to the community, and helping worthwhile causes and organizations in
any way we can," explains Carolyn. Lauren added, "When Ms.
Carson told us about the book drive, we felt it was something we could really
contribute to." Leigh Carson plans to continue the annual event, and urges supporters to keep Our Little Haven in mind throughout the year. "There are very simple, inexpensive ways that we can help groups like Our Little Haven," said Carson. "You'd be surprised at how the smallest things can make a big difference in the life of a child."
