Leigh Joy Carson practices primarily in the areas of domestic relations and appeals. She received her BA degree, cum laude from Ripon College and her JD degree, cum laude, from St. Louis University School of Law where she was a member of the Public Law Review. Carson served as law clerk to the Honorable Carl R. Gaertner of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District.

She has spoken at continuing legal education seminars on domestic relations topics for UM-Kansas City, UM-Columbia, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the Missouri Bar Association, the National Business Institute and the Land of Lincoln Bar Foundation. She is one of the editors of the Missouri Bar Family Law Newsletter. Carson is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, The St. Louis County Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.

Carson was appointed by the Presiding Judge of the St. Louis County Circuit Court to an ad hoc committee created to address accessibility by the handicapped to the city courthouse. She serves as co-chair of the subcommittee addressing accessibility issues relating to the interior of the building.

Carson has served on the board of directors for: Kids in the Middle and Friends of Heritage House.
