The Carson Law Firm leads the team that raises more than $13,000 for local charity
On May 8, 2014, Judge Thomas J. Frawley, along with family law attorneys Leigh Joy Carson and Michael C. Todt, presented a CLE to benefit Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry, a St. Louis based charity that provides family law services to indigent people irrespective of their religion. The event was attended by 85 people from 5 counties in the Metropolitan St. Louis area and over $13,000 was raised. All of the money was donated to the charity, as the costs for presenting the CLE were paid by Carson and Todt.
The title for the CLE was The Experts The Questions and the experts were Melissa Gragg, CPA and certified business appraiser of Stone Carlie, about business valuation in divorce; Dr. James Reid, clinical psychologist of The Washington University, about how psychologists can assist attorneys in custody cases and Michael Morhaus, CPA of Anders, CPA, about tax issues in divorce.
Instead of the presenters lecturing the audience, the CLE was presented as a series of questions from the Judge and attorneys and answers from the experts. Each session concluded with practice pointers from the Judge. Attendees responded to the novel style of presentation overwhelmingly positively.
