What’s the Deal with the Parenting Class for People in Custody cases in St. Louis?

In virtually every case filed in St. Louis County involving custody of children aged less than 19 years, each parent must attend the court-approved parenting class. Cases where attendance at the class is required include divorce, legal separation, paternity and modification.

The class costs $50 per person, payable at the time of the class by cash or money order. Personal checks are not accepted.

Class lasts approximately 2 ½ hours and is intended to remind parents how traumatic conflict between parents is for children and to offer strategies for parents to cooperate more effectively. Attendees will receive information about community resources that may be of assistance after the court case is concluded.

The classes are held at various locations around St. Louis County, Classes are generally held on weekday evenings and very occasionally on Saturday mornings.

To sign-up for a class, call (314) 863-3310. For more information about the class, visit www.stlparenteducation.com.
