It’s easy to take a walk in the good weather with your child: enjoying the sun on your face and the relaxed conversation on the way to the ice cream shop.

But the fall and winter are also times to remember that just as John Coltrane said the real music is between the notes, the real conversation is between the words. Take a walk and listen to the dry leaves dancing on the sidewalk.

Relish the silence and treasure the time with your child. Even the space between the words.
